Mr. Gregory Lamar Byrd was born on August 9, 1957, to Mildred Willis and Abraham Harris in Griffin, Georgia. Gregory received his formal education in Homestead, Florida.
Mr. Gregory Lamar Byrd accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and joined Eighth Street Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Antoine C. Lucas, Sr
Gregory had a name that was given to him by his friends and family, they adopted the name "Soul Dog". Everyone in the Griffin area knew him by "Soul Dog". He was loved by his family and friends.
On Saturday, March 15, 2025, Mr. Gregory Lamar Byrd's name was called, and he answered and was free from all sickness and pain. Rest now in peace and comfort, your journey has ended, battle fought, and victory won. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Willis, and stepfather, Charlie James Willis, and his siblings, Candice Harris, and Charlie Willis.
Mr. Gregory Lamar Byrd leaves a lasting legacy, full of loving memories his siblings, Lena Willis, Felita Harris, Charlotte Willis, Abraham Harris, Jr., Lashundra Willis, Pam Harris, Cecily Harris and Darrell Harris, and his father, Abraham Harris. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Burden's Funeral Home. Service will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Burden's Funeral Home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service hour. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens. Pastor Antoine C. Lucas, Sr., is the Eulogist.
