Gary Richard Byrd

Gary Byrd, age 81, passed away on December 30, 2025. He was born on July 15, 1944, and lived a life defined by hard work, love for family, and simple joys. Gary was the devoted husband of the late Kathleen Jasman, the love of his life. Father to Josephine (Gregg) Anderson, James Jasman Jr., and Rebecca Orzechowski. Grandfather of Kyle, Rachel (Jade), and Thomas, and great-grandfather of Damien. A lifelong carpenter, Gary had a true talent for working with his hands and took pride in building and fixing things himself. He later retired from the Detroit Medical Center, where his strong work ethic and reliability were well known. Gary loved to read and enjoyed spending his days puttering around his house, always finding something to tinker with or improve. Some of his favorite moments were spent at his cottage up north in Beverton, Michigan, where he found peace and contentment surrounded by nature. Gary will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. He leaves behind many fond memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A visitation will be held at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home 8459 Hall Rd. (3Blks E. of Van Dyke). Utica on Saturday (January 10th) from 12pm until the time of service at 4pm.
