Gregory "Greg" Celestine, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and veteran, passed away on January 8, 2026. Born in Beaumont, Texas, on November 9, 1957, Greg was the son of Forest and Mildred Celestine. He was proud to be the oldest of the Beaumont brothers.

Early Life and Education

Greg was raised in Beaumont, where he completed his schooling and graduated from Beaumont Charlton-Pollard High School in 1976. A true athlete, Greg excelled in football and track. He was well-known for his endurance and often fondly bragged about how far he would run around the city of Beaumont.

Military Service and Career

Following graduation, Greg enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Over the course of a distinguished 22-year career, he toured throughout Asia and was stationed in many areas of the U.S., including North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, and California. He earned the position of Staff Sergeant (E-6) before receiving his honorable discharge.

Upon returning to civilian life, Greg had many career experiences that eventually led him to ExxonMobil B&P. He worked there as a pipefitter for almost 20 years until his health caused him to retire.

Family and Personal Life

On October 10, 1997, Greg married his wife and childhood friend, Era. Together, they resided in Beaumont and raised a blended family of four children. Greg's greatest joy was his granddaughters; he loved and cherished them deeply, spoiling them to no end. Outside of his family life, Greg also had a great love for bowling.

Survivors and Legacy

Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Forest and Mildred Celestine; his son, Gregory Michael Celestine; and his brother, Mitchell Celestine.

He leaves to cherish his memory: His beloved wife: Era Celestine; His children: Son, Christopher Charles Celestine (Dulles, VA); and daughters, Darassa Wilridge and Iman Wilridge-Zachere (Jamaal), both of Beaumont, TX; His brothers: Forest (Pat), Willis, Reggie (Rachel), Dwight (Tonya), Perry (Ivory), and Darrel (Artyna); His six granddaughters: Morghan, Jadance, Marleigh, Samaya, Rose, and Julienne; His mother-in-law: Dorothy Kirkwood; His sister-in-law: Dianne McNeil; His best friends: Robert Young, Dennis Thompson, Harry Barnes, and Elton Senegal;

I am so sorry to hear about Greg passing. My family and I were stationed with him on Okinawa and at Cherry Point. He was a wonderful person, and an even better Marine. Rest in peace my friend.
