Gregory Carl Dearing

Gregory Carl Dearing, age 63 of Buffalo, MN, passed away December 20, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. He was born on August 22, 1962 in Buffalo, MN to Tom and Irene (Swartz) Dearing of Maple Lake.

Greg graduated from Maple Lake High School with the Class of 1981. Following graduation, he continued working on the family dairy farm.

On June 11, 1988, Greg was united in holy marriage to Susan M. Babatz at the Church of St. Mary in Waverly. Together they were blessed with two daughters, Emily and Ellie, whom Greg loved deeply and was very proud of. The farm he fondly grew up on and worked at later became home to the next generation when Emily and son-in-law Cody purchased it, allowing it to remain in the family.

After his father retired and the cattle were sold, Greg began a career as a school custodian. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way. His favorite place to work was Rogers Elementary, where he was grateful to be part of a supportive community of staff, students, and parents who meant a great deal to him.

Greg loved spending time with his family, especially his daughters, son-in-law, and grandson. He was known for his kind heart, willingness to help others, and sense of humor. Greg enjoyed being a jokester and never turned down a good treat!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Irene; parents-in-law, Don and Kathy Babatz; and brother-in-law, Mark Babatz.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sue; children, Emily (Cody) Lindberg of Maple Lake and Ellie Dearing of Buffalo; grandchildren, Cade Lindberg and Cade's sibling that is due in June; siblings, Bruce (Kris) Dearing, Terri (Steve) Harder, Diane Dearing, Jeff Dearing; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barb (Jeff) Krause, Alan (Jennifer) Babatz; many other relatives and friends.

Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at the Mayo Clinic for the exceptional care shown to Greg during his esophageal cancer treatment.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning one hour prior. Inurnment will be held in the spring.

Rogers Elementary School held a special place in Greg's heart, so our family will work with the school to figure out a need as a focus for any memorials or donations given in honor of Greg.
