Gregory Dietzel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors - Reese Chapel on Jan. 24, 2026.
Gregory Scott Dietzel, aged 61 years, of Bay City, Michigan, formerly of Reese, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at his home. Born on September 6, 1964, in Bay City, Greg was the cherished son of Janet (Johnson) Dietzel and the late Dale A. Dietzel. Raised in Reese, he attended Reese Schools and was well-known in the community.

Greg was the proud owner and operator of G and A Auto, where he spent many years serving the community through his exceptional work. His passion for automobiles was not just his profession but the essence of his life. Greg's customers held him in high regard, not only for the quality of his work but for his integrity, fairness, and unwavering commitment to excellence. He had a knack for fixing anything that came his way, and his love for classic cars and the stories they told was evident to anyone who had talked to him.

In his younger days, Greg also embraced the thrill of motorcycles, adding to his repertoire of interests that revolved around engines and speed. Greg was known for his readiness to lend a helping hand and his outgoing, personable nature. His love for his family knew no bounds, and he shared an extraordinary bond with his canine companions, Lucy and Allie, who were a source of immense joy in his life.

Greg leaves behind a legacy of love and memories for his mother, Janet (Johnson) Dietzel, and his son, Alex Barrons. He is also survived by his sister, Lynne Kindy, as well as many nieces, a nephew, cousins, and dear friends who will miss his presence dearly. His father and his brother, Kevin Dietzel, preceded him in death, and they are now reunited in peace.

A memorial service to celebrate Greg's life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, located at 9940 Saginaw Street in Reese. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories of Greg at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Greg's life was a testament to the love he had for his work, his family, and his friends, and he will be remembered for the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those who knew him.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Greg's family in care of his son, Alex Barrons.
