Gregory Lee Evans, age 66 of Leesburg Florida passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.
Greg was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 27, 1958 and moved to Florida as an infant. He spent most of his adult life in Florida, Texas, Washington and Hawaii.
During his forty-six year career Greg was a consummate salesman who began traveling around the country selling timeshares, then moved onto auto sales, then motorhomes, and lastly handicapped accessible wheelchair vans.
As a salesman Greg's goal was to always be #1 on the Sales Board.
His personal passion (besides his family) was Backgammon, which he played competitively across the country.
His love of music was second to none. He attended multitudes of live concerts and always had interesting stories to share from those events, often managing to get right up front or even backstage. Greg also accumulated a massive collection of vinyl records and Rock 'n Roll memorabilia.
Greg had an extraordinary sense of humor, always ready with a joke or some off the wall "fun fact", crazy hat or T-shirt – always keeping his family and friends laughing.
Greg is survived by his wife Nora Brown, his daughter Danielle Rae Evans, three step-children Chris (Marcene) Linzey, Dana Ruelas, Kari (Charles) Pritchard and three step-grandchildren Chris Jr. (Hailey), Belen (Cody) and Omar. Greg is also survived by his former wife DonnaSue Evans, his sister Gail (Lloyd) Lindauer, nephews Fenton, Phillip and Jimmy along with many other beloved family members and friends.
Greg was predeceased by his mother Helen Weiss Schmitt, his father James "Ed" Evans and brother James "Jim" G. Evans II.
Greg was a devoted husband, father, step-father, step-grandfather, brother and uncle. He deeply loved God and his family. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and rededicated himself in Baptism, alongside his daughter, Danielle, in November of 2024.
His gentle spirit and warm heart will be sorely missed.
The family welcomes flowers, however, in lieu of flowers please feel free to Plant a Tree in Greg's honor.
Or you can contribute to the American Backgammon Federation in Greg's name at: https://usbgf.org/membership/give/one-time-donations/

To my beloved Greg - you were a bright spot in all of our lives, always making us laugh, full of kindness, always greeting everyone with a hug and a smile.

You genuinely cared about family and friends and how their lives were going. You were a true Christian as well as an Awesome Daddy, brother, uncle, Pops, Gramps and friend.

You were the best husband anyone could ask for. Finding you and your unconditional love was a blessing from God. It was a joy to be your wife for all the years we had together. I promised you my forever on the day we married.

Greg, my love, I miss you with all my heart but I take comfort in the wonderful memories we shared and in the promise of our Lord, that we will be together again one day.

With all my love, Nora
