Gregory G. Gates (GG), 66, of Fayetteville passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
He was born April 7, 1959, in Salina, Kansas to the late Bessie Marie Gates and Edward Samuel Gates. After graduating from Pine Forest High School in 1977, Greg obtained his Electrical Contractors Licensure, where he worked diligently to build his business, Gates Electric. He was a simple man of many talents.
GG loved his family fiercely and cherished his time with family and friends. He also enjoyed soaking up the sun at Carolina Beach, fishing, golfing with his buddies, dancing to Carolina beach music, and playing the harmonica.
Those left to cherish his memories are his brother and dear friend Mark Gates; sister Rhonda West (David West); two daughters Stephanie Gates Keating (AJ Keating), Jennifer Gates Smith (Ryan Smith); five grandchildren Payton Keating, Easton Keating, Weston Smith, Jack Smith, Tate Smith; niece Taylor Blumenfeld (Jason Blumenfeld) and great niece Maya Blumenfeld.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 5 pm at Sullivan's Highland Chapel with Pastor Tim Baugus presiding. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4 pm to 5 pm at the funeral home.
