Gregory David Gisser

Gregory David Gisser, of Washingtonville, NY passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at the age of 27. He was born in Suffern, NY on April 23, 1996, the son of Gordon and Cindy (Oppenheimer) Gisser.
Greg graduated from Washingtonville High School in 2014. He had a deep love for animals and at the time of his passing, he was nearing completion of his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Health and Behavior at Unity Environmental University in New Gloucester, Maine. He was always concerned about the welfare of animals and planned to work as a wildlife rehabilitator following college.
Greg had an unusual connection with animals. His family was amazed when at a young age he trained a wild goose to come when called and sit next to him. Over the years he raised a menagerie of pets including gerbils, hamsters, reptiles, dogs, cats, a chinchilla, and a parrot.
He is survived by his parents, Gordon and Cindy Gisser and his sister, Kimberly Gisser. He is also survived by his pets which include cat Jasmine, puppy Baylee, and parrot Trixie who rarely left his shoulder. Greg will also be deeply missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends may gather at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac, NY, on Wednesday, December 20th, from 10-11 am. Funeral Services will commence at 11 am with Rabbi Sarah Friedson, officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Putnam Valley, NY.
