TRIMONT - Gregory D. “Greg” Geerdes, age 64, of Trimont, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at his home in Trimont after a courageous battle against stomach cancer.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Greg at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center - Trimont (111 Apple Street East, Trimont, MN 56176) with Pastor Jeff Hagen officiating. The service will be recorded and available afterwards on Greg’s obituary page.
Visitation will take place from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center – Trimont (111 Apple Street East, Trimont, MN 56176). Visitation will also take place from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Greg will be laid to rest at Elm Creek Cemetery, in rural Trimont.

Greg Geerdes was born on August 27, 1961, in Sibley, Iowa, to Hermie and Joann (Wesselink) Geerdes. He was confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Trimont and graduated from Trimont High School with the Class of 1980.
Greg was employed at Glasstite, Avery-Weightronix, and AgCo, where he built many lasting friendships with his coworkers. In 2024, he was honored as the honorary cancer survivor at the Martin County Relay for Life, a recognition that held special meaning for both Greg and his family.
Above all else, Greg’s greatest joy in life was his daughter, Emersyn. He treasured every moment spent with her and his entire family. One of his favorite pastimes was watching Emersyn play sports, and he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer her on from the stands.
Greg was a loyal Minnesota sports fan and enjoyed following the Twins, Vikings, Wild, Timberwolves, and the Lynx. He also loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his buddies.
Greg will forever be remembered by his daughter, Emersyn; stepmother, Carolyn Geerdes; siblings, Kim (Tom) Sampson, Patty Geerdes, Mike (Vicki) Geerdes, Karla Geerdes, Mary (Ron) Shade, Peggy Geerdes, Shelli (Josh) Paulson; sister-in-law, Jodie Geerdes; many nieces and nephews; Emersyn’s mom and brothers, Kim, Mason, and Carter Mosloski; and other relatives and friends.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Hermie and Joann Geerdes; brother, Steve Geerdes; paternal grandparents, Herman and Dena Geerdes; maternal grandparents, John and Evelyn Wesselink; great-niece, Ny’Lani Hayes; aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
