Gregory Allen Hobbs, 67, of Paoli, formerly of Lapel, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at IU Health Paoli Hospital in Paoli, Indiana.
He was born on October 11, 1956, in Noblesville, Indiana to Ralph C. and Janet (Miller) Hobbs. He was a 1974 graduate of Lapel High School where he played the trumpet in the Lapel Bulldogs marching band.
He retired from Fletcher Heating and Cooling as an HVAC technician after 50 years of employment. Greg was a hardworking man.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. He was a true outdoorsman. He was a member of the NRA. Camouflage clothing was his favorite attire.
Family was so very important to him. He loved visiting his family in Virginia. He was an excellent story teller, whether they were true or not. He was an amazing cook and especially loved to cook on the grill.
Greg is survived by his wife of 43 years whom he married July 18, 1981, Ruby Marie (Ledford) Hobbs; his mother, Janet Hobbs; a son, Bryan Shultz; two grandchildren, Conor Shultz and Gavin Shultz; a stepdaughter, Marcia Gray; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Thomas Hobbs; his grandparents, Rando and Laura Hobbs and William and Catherine Miller; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Bozell Funeral Homes, Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Pastor Aaron Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the funeral home.
