Gregory "Greg" Weldon Hobbs, 72 of Maxwell , NE formerly of Kilgore, NE passed away in his sleep on December 15, 2025, in Maxwel, NE.

Greg was born November 22, 1953, at Princeton, Missouri to Russell and Nelda (Stanturf) Hobbs.

Greg grew up and attended Princeton High School where he was a standout football and basketball player, FFA member and President. He graduated with the class of 1972, following graduation Greg married Virginia Klinginsmith and to this union Heather and Brock were born.

Greg married Ruth Gouge on September 15,1984 in Cameron, Missouri, and this union brought Sylvia and Travis and later Zachary and Shane were born.

Greg attended both the Valentine Berean and Cornerstone Bible churches.

Greg is survived by his wife Ruth of Maxwell, his children: Shane Hobbs (Kelsey) of Gothenburg, Brock Hobbs (Travee) of Ainsworth, Heather Koperski (Mike) Farwell, Zac Hobbs of Maxwell, Sylvia Bernard (Jack) of Springfield, Missouri and Travis Gouge of Valentine, nine Grandchildren, five Great-Grandchildren, brothers Randy (Angel) Hobbs of Pueblo West, and Duane (Jeania) Hobbs of Princeton, Missouri; along with many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Bill Hobbs and Dee Hobbs.

Memorial Visitation will be held Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Valentine Methodist Church from 5:00 - 7:00 PM with the family present.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Valentine Methodist Church, Valentine, NE with Pastor Scott McClellen officiating.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Cowboy Ha l of Fame, 121 E 2nd St, PO Box 127, Ainsworth, Nebraska 69210.

Sandoz Chapel of the Pines is in charge of service arrangements.
