Was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the age of 71 at Lightways of Joliet surrounded by his loving family.
Greg was born on June 28, 1951 in
Lancaster, Ohio to Walter and Gloria Kaumeyer. After graduating from Lancaster High in 1969, he went on to study Physical Education at The Ohio State University on an athletic training scholarship. While attending The Ohio State University, Greg was a student trainer for multiple sports at The Ohio State including traveling with the Buckeye Football team. Greg learned one of life's most valuable lessons from Coach Woody Hayes about paying things forward in life. Greg met his wife Pamela while attending The Ohio State University. They were married in 1974 and were with each other through all of life's ups and downs. Greg became a physical therapist and athletic trainer after receiving his Master's degrees from Case Western Reserve and Duke University. He moved to Connecticut after graduating from Duke and helped start a sports medicine facility there. He then moved to Joliet and worked at Newsome Physical Therapy for 5 years until he began working at PTSIR where he went on to become an owner and partner. During Greg's physical therapy and athletic training tenure he was involved in many incredible projects including working with NASA and working with numerous professional and amateur athletes, and working with Titleist Performance Institute in developing a senior golf fitness program.
Greg and Pam would go on to have two sons Jason and Nicholas. Greg was a wonderful and devoted father, husband, brother and friend. He always taught us to work hard, always do your best, pay things forward, and live life by the Golden Rule. When Greg wasn't working treating patients and athletes he could be found golfing, gardening, or spending time on a family vacation. After retiring from Physical Therapy Greg continued his passion for helping people and started a Golf Fitness company working with Titleist Performance Institute in developing fitness programs that worked with Junior and Senior golfers to help them improve their physical fitness and their golf game. Greg was a lifelong member of Our Savior Lutheran Church where he served God's calling and held multiple offices including President of the congregation.
Greg is survived by his wife Pamela (Baltzer) Kaumeyer. Two sons Jason (Tricia) Kaumeyer and Nicholas (Cristina) Kaumeyer. Three grandchildren Madelynn, Mackenzie, and Jack. His brother Kim (Cathy) Kaumeyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Gloria (Graupner) Kaumeyer, beloved grandmother Neva Kaumeyer, and beloved aunt Evelyn "Hoody" Kaumeyer.
