Greg Kuhner, loving partner, son, brother, uncle, and friend, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 20, 1967. He passed away peacefully but unexpectedly with his beloved Susie at his side on June 14, 2024, at Saint Mary Medical Center, at the age of 57.
A man of many talents and interests, Greg had a heart that touched many. His warmth and kindness were evident in his relationships, especially with his soulmate Susie O'Donnell, whom he shared nearly 26 years of his life. He affectionally called her his BGITW "Best Girl in The World." Greg's family, including his brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerhard and Marianne, Andrew and Caryn and Anton and Erin, his nieces and nephews, Matthew (Michelle), Brian (Paige), Alexis Francis (James), Anton and Emily, great nieces and nephews, Catherine, John, Cooper and Aidan all meant the world to him. He adored his nieces and nephews and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of a new little niece. His parents, Gerhard and Rose Kuhner preceded him in death. Greg also cherished Susie's family as his own - her dad Tom, mom Bettyann, her brother Tommy, sister-in-law Robin and nephew Austin, extending his love to each member.
Greg always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was so fun loving. Being with him was never a dull time. He was amazing with kids and always wanted to make holidays special. Greg loved to keep family traditions alive. He arranged Easter Egg Hunts for the little ones and the Ringing of the Bells to alert everyone Santa was coming on Christmas Eve - no matter how old everyone got. Being an animal lover, (sometimes more than people) he loved his puppies, Cindy, Tickles, Skittles and Molly. They had him wrapped around their paws.
Greg's love for soccer defined much of his life. Starting at the young age of 5, he played soccer for various teams - F.C. Bayern, Penn State and Vereinigung Erzgebirge. Greg played the game he adored for 52 years, persevering through a troubled knee out of sheer passion for the sport. His loyalty and fervor extended to teams like the US National, German National, and Philadelphia Union. Greg eagerly awaited the 2026 World Cup in Philly, juggling a soccer ball with finesse until the end, never missing an opportunity to showcase his skills.
Greg had lasting relationships with many and no matter how much time had passed, he always picked them right back up where they left off. He enjoyed making everyone laugh, was very witty and could be sarcastic in a very funny way. He went to Saint Albert the Great grade school, Archbishop Ryan High School, LaSalle University and Penn State University, making many friends along the way. Everyone loved his quick wit and banter and his "Gregisms" that were so many they could fill a book. He was loyal to his friends, always willing to help with anything, polite, gentle, kind, extremely sensitive and easy to embarrass all the while always trying to do the right thing. He loved to landscape and was very mechanically inclined. He was so helpful to everyone, from fixing brakes, to shoveling the neighbors out of a snowstorm all the while building giant snow mounds. He would never ask for help from anyone but, if he did on rare occasions, he always felt like he was putting them out.
Greg enjoyed traveling, especially to Germany, the Poconos, camping, and after a little arm twisting from Susie, ultimately became a lover of Disney. Wilderness Lodge was his home away from home. Queen was his favorite band but over the years branched out into many other genres. He always hoped to own a '65 Shelby Cobra but was content to ride his Yamaha Vino Scooter. He even founded the Exclusive "Scooter Gang" which had two members and others anxiously awaiting to meet the criteria to join. He had "Perfect Hair" and don't mess it up or else!! He played the drums and Pinochle was his card game of choice especially playing with his dad, family and friends. He worked out 2 times a day so he could hold true to his motto "CSTSO". (Susie may share what that means for a small fee.MAYBE!!) Always competitive, he was most often the winner at brutal games of musical chairs and board games. He had so much information in his head (or as he called it useless information) that he could have easily been a Jeopardy champion.
Greg's passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew him. He was one of a kind. An emptiness has been left in our lives that can never be replaced. His quick wit, humor, and generous spirit endeared him to all. His motto was "Life is Simple." His polite demeanor, loyalty to friends, and willingness to help others showcased his exceptional character. With a penchant for sarcasm and a heart of gold, he brightened every room he entered and will be forever missed.
In honoring Greg's memory, on June 22, 2024, a viewing will be held at Campbell and Thomas Funeral Home, 905 Second Street Pike, Richboro, PA 18954, beginning at 10:30AM until his funeral service 12 PM.
