Gregory W. Lunsford

Gregory "Captain" W. Lunsford, 70, passed away Monday, February 16, 2026 after a long battle with heath complications at Bayshore Residence and Rehabilitation in Duluth, MN.

Greg was born on October 16, 1955 in Sanford, MI to Lois (Graves) and Roger Lunsford.

He was employed many years for Kimmes Oil Company as a fuel tank truck driver until his health failed him. Greg was a hard worker in every sense of the word. Whether it was long days on the job or long nights fixing, building, helping, or simply showing up, he gave everything he had. If something needed to be done, he did it, and he did it right. He went above and beyond, not for recognition, but because that's just who he was.

Greg enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, dancing especially two stepping and spending time with his family. He was known as "Papa" by his family and will be remembered as being a steady ground for those around him, spoiling the ones he loved, always slipping you a little something extra, making sure you were taken care of, fixing what was broken before you even had to ask. Greg's love was practical, dependable, and constant.

He was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Lisa.

Survivors include his wife, Marion; his mother, Lois Lunsford; his children, Kerri (Chaz Meinke) Sirard, Donnie (Stephanie) Whitehill, Jr., Sherry Whitehill, Jeanie (Josh) Glas, and Michael (Jillian) Lunsford his grandchildren, Destiny (Luke), Kayla (Mike), Cody, Noah, Mikayla, Liam, Bently, Tatum, Emma, Cullen, Connor, Elaina, Natlie, and Caleb; his great grandchildren, Oakley, Owen, Farren, Degan, and Brystol; his siblings, Victor, Kevin, Kathy, Darin, and Daniel; his brother and sister in-law, James "Bummer" Shannon Phillips and numerous nieces and nephews.
