Gregory Miles Obituary

Gregory “Greg” Joseph Miles, 63, passed away on January 28, 2026. He was born on March 15, 1962, and lived a life marked by dedication, loyalty, and a quiet but unmistakable presence in the music and live production community.

Greg was widely respected as a longtime professional in the music industry, where his work behind the scenes helped bring countless performances to life. He began his career working shows with the local stagehands union, where he quickly earned a reputation as someone who could always be counted on. Friends and colleagues recall that Greg was never one to seek the spotlight, yet he was always ready to lend a hand—whether setting up before the first note or working late into the night tearing down after the final encore.

Around 1985, Greg began assisting with productions alongside Stan Paul, helping set up and dismantle lighting equipment after Stan expanded his inventory. Greg’s reliability and strong work ethic made him an invaluable part of those early productions. By late 1986, he joined Western Sky exclusively, where he continued to devote himself to the demanding and often unseen work that supports live entertainment. Through the years, Greg formed lasting friendships and earned the admiration of those who knew him, not only for his professionalism, but for his humility, steadiness, and willingness to serve wherever needed. He was also instrumental in the James Burton foundation.

Beyond his work, Greg was a devoted husband, brother, and friend. His life was grounded in loyalty to those he loved, and he leaves behind memories of kindness, dependability, and quiet strength.

Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Marie Williams; his father, Hardy Miles; and his brother, Shawn Dee Williams.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lucy Miles, and her extended family of Buenavista, Agusan del Norte, Philippines; his sisters, Moni Norris and her husband Richard, and Kenya “Sissy” Lowery; his brothers, Pat Milam and his wife Amy, and Alford Bayne Milam and his wife Julie; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends and colleagues whose lives he touched.

Those who knew Greg will remember a man who lived with integrity, worked with purpose, and stood faithfully beside the people in his life. His legacy endures not only in the productions he helped build, but in the relationships he nurtured and the quiet example he set.

In the words of Charlie Daniels, a sentiment Greg appreciated and lived by:

“The good book says it, so I know it’s the truth. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. You better watch where you go and remember where you’ve been. That’s the way I see it, I’m a simple man.”
