Gregory Petersen September 2, 1958 – September 28, 2025 Gregory " Pete"Petersen, 67, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away on September 28, 2025, following complications from a car accident. Greg was born on September 2, 1958, in Libertyville, Illinois. During his childhood, he lived in several Illinois towns while his father completed medical school and residency. In 1966, the family settled in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, where Greg enjoyed playing basketball and riding motocross on his bicycle. In 1972, they relocated to Boca Raton, Florida, where Greg attended Boca Raton High School. It was there that he met his first wife, Jessie, whom he married shortly after graduation. Greg proudly served his country in the United States Navy, joining on December 5, 1978. Following his service, he and Jessie unfortunately went their separate way. Greg later married his second wife, Tracey, in 1990. Together they raised two sons, Nicholas and Matthew, in Boynton Beach, Florida. Greg built a career as a skilled HVAC technician and was known for his remarkable ability to repair just about anything. Even after retiring due to disability, he continued to help family and friends with air-conditioning and repair needs whenever he could. Generous with his time and talents, Greg was never too busy to lend a hand. Greg's larger-than-life personality, strong Christian faith, love for animals, military jets, boating and deep love for his family defined him. He adored animals and cared his for dogs, cats, fish, lizards, and more-always putting their needs first. A talented water-skier, he patiently taught others, though none could quite match his skill. Above all, his greatest joy and accomplishment were his two sons, whom he loved with all his heart. Greg is survived by his father, Dr. Roger Petersen (wife Della); his sons, Matthew Petersen and Nicholas Petersen; his brothers, Monty Petersen and Bradley Petersen (wife Melissa); his sister, Elizabeth Petruzzelli (husband Dave); stepbrother, Christopher Oquist (wife Elena); stepsister, Stephanie Gunderson (husband Kevin) and their families; granddaughter, Kayla Lowchy; nieces and nephews, Allie Somers (husband Cameron), Maya Petersen, Sasha Petersen, Hana Petersen, and Sofia Petersen; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dawn Marilyn Petersen; grandparents, Vera and Earl McPeak and William and Gertrude Petersen; and his cherished niece, Keira Petersen. Greg will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his family takes comfort knowing he is reunited with loved ones in heaven and resting in the merciful arms of the Lord.

Family will receive friends Saturday, October 25, 2025 1-2pm with a 2pm funeral service at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be held Monday, October 27, 2025, 1pm at the South Florida VA National Cemetery.

Pete was an amazing person, father and grandfather, larger than life.
I´ve known Pete since the mid 1970´s. He got me hooked on dirt bikes, music and how live life to the fullest. After my tour in the Military, I regrouped with Pete. We enjoyed riding our dirt bikes regularly and boating. Pete was an avid water skier. We traveled several trips to the Florida Key's and continued our friendship. Pete had an incredible talent with air conditioning and refrigeration. He could troubleshoot an issue and have your home cooled off in an hour after you called him. This could happen any day or time. Pete never wanted to take money for his help. Pete loved life, dogs, Led Zeppelin and life. Pete loved Jesus as he accepted Jesus as his Savior.
Pete will be missed by many. Love you brother. Till we meet again. Save me a seat. Your buddy Dannyboy.
