“Monday is for people with a mission.” – Christina Imre

Gregory Pogue, affectionately referred to as Greg, entered this world on Monday, November 27, 1950, and transitioned to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 10, 2025.

The eldest son of the late Frank Pogue and the late Delores V. Collins, Greg grew up in Roselle, NJ, with his five siblings and his beloved grandmother.

Upon graduation from Jefferson High School in Elizabeth, NJ, Greg received an associate degree from Becker College. A talented basketball player, he received a scholarship to Nichols College where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration. His passion for education propelled him to pursue an MBA from Wagner College, a doctorate in business administration from Argosy University-Sarasota, and a Master of Theological Studies from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Greg was the first alumni awarded an honorary doctorate of humane letters at Becker College’s 230th Commencement in recognition of his service to the college and professional accomplishments.

Greg’s educational pedigree set the foundation for his storied career as a human resources executive. His roles spanned the public and private sectors until he found a home in higher education working at Drew University, California State University-East Bay (Cal State East Bay), the University of San Diego (USD), and The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). At TCNJ, he was responsible for policy, procedures, compliance, and EEO/AA/Diversity along with interim responsibilities that included oversight of Student Affairs and Athletics. In 2020, Greg retired from TCNJ but will always be known for his innovative approaches to problem solving and a people-first mindset.

His passion for basketball, writing, and playing the guitar were fulfilled in many ways. He authored numerous articles, poems and a book, Employee Assistance Programs on Liberal Arts Campuses. He was inducted into the Becker College Hall of Fame, served on the Board of Advisors, and received the Gabe Simon Award (athletics). He also received the Nichols College Outstanding Alumnus Award and devoted time to serving on boards and advisory councils including the YMCA of Union County, NJ, and the Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, NJ. When he wasn’t searching for classic cars, he was being Mr. Fix-It, or extolling life advice.

Among the many mourning his death are his wife, Rohini Bissoondat Pogue; his six children, Kimberly Pogue Reid (Scott); Valerie N. Pogue; Courtney N. Pogue (Derek); Matthew G. Pogue; Jasmine D. Pogue; and Isabella K. Pogue; his four grandchildren, Sydney, Scott II, Luke, and Norah; his brother, Kenneth C. Collins; his mother-in-law, Kathleen Bissoondat; along with nieces, nephews, and a host of family members.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, Frank Pogue; mother, Delores V. Collins; grandmother, Mildred King; sisters Linda S. Harris and Dorothy E. Collins; and brother, Lawrence A. Collins.

Lovingly submitted,

The Family
