Laurel Roseanne (Salley) Fecteau, 87, of Indian Land, SC, passed away on November 10, 2025 in her home after a period of declining health.
Laurel, daughter of Mahlon and Helen (Gaudette) Salley was born in Milo, ME on May 24, 1938.
After high school, she was working as a data entry clerk at the University of Maine. She met her
future husband, Richard C. Fecteau, at an off campus dance. They then started walking
together on campus at noontime to become better acquainted. Richard was smitten by her and
especially loved her red hair. She married Richard in 1957 and they moved to Lowell, MA.
Laurel then became a full time homemaker as her family started to grow. She was an avid
gardener of all types, and was a member of the Derry, NH Garden Club for many years, serving
in many capacities including president. She also taught piano for a number of years. She quilted
and was a member of a quilting guild in Hudson, NH. She created numerous crewel embroidery
pieces, and enjoyed sewing of all types. She volunteered in the office of St John the Evangelist
Church in Hudson, NH assisting with religious education classes for youth. She loved all pets,
and always had at least one cat in her home, though frequently multiple cats. In 2015, she and
her husband followed their daughter’s family to South Carolina. She became a member of Our
Lady of Grace Catholic Church shortly after moving to Indian Land.
Laurel is survived by her husband, Richard of Indian Land, her son Mark (Diane) Fecteau of
Fort Myers, FL, her daughter Michelle (James) Wilson of Fort Mill, SC, her son Andre Fecteau
of Londonderry, NH, 5 grandchildren (Christen Deschenes, Gina Angel, Cathryn Lashley, Sarah
Peacock and Jeffrey Fecteau), and 5 great-grandchildren (Ariana & Aurora Deschenes,
Benjamin & Adeleine Lashley and Nathaniel Peacock).
A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Lancaster, SC on November 24, 2025 at 12:00 noon. Inurnment will follow immediately after the Mass.
