Gregory B. Sanyet

OGDENSBURG - Gregory B. Sanyet, 66, of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family and a close friend.
Arrangements are under the direction of Frary Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Ogdensburg. A celebration of Gregory's life will be held this summer on the river-the place he loved most.
Gregory is survived by his daughter, Ashley Todd, and her husband, Andrew, of Heuvelton, NY; his sister, Kathy (John) Edwards of Ogdensburg; and his beloved grandchildren, Brian, Ivan, and Charlotte Todd, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Millie (Angel) Morales of Connecticut and Lynn (Jim) O'Malley of Vermont; his niece, Krista Edwards; his niece, Raena Bjork; and his nephew, David (Katelyn) Edwards.
He was predeceased by his mother, Sally (Lewis) Ripley; his father, Samuel Sanyet; and his brother, Gerald Ripley.
Gregory was born on April 20, 1959, in Hollywood, Florida, the son of the late Samuel Sanyet and Sally (Lewis) Ripley. He graduated from Deer Isle–Stonington High School in Maine. After returning to Ogdensburg, he worked at ACCO for a time and was well known as an avid handyman who could fix just about anything. He later earned a certificate in Electrical Construction and Maintenance from SUNY Canton. Gregory was a proud member of IBEW Local 910 and worked as a journeyman electrician for over 25 years, retiring in October of 2019. He spent many of his younger years living with his grandparents in Stonington, Maine, where he developed a lifelong love for the water as an avid fisherman and lobsterman. That passion continued throughout his life, whether catching perch or cooking for family and friends. Gregory also enjoyed watching Syracuse basketball and had a big, caring heart, always willing to help others in any way he could. He especially cherished the time spent with his close friends Jeffrey Bulger, Simon Sargent, and Doug Daniel.
