Gregory Sheckells

AIM lost an amazing friend yesterday. Mr. Greg Sheckells passed away surrounded by his brother Richard, his mother Elissa Marchi and his AIM family. Greg was born on January 18, 1974, in Kingston, Jamaica. Greg first came to the United States in 1994 and returned to Jamaica in 1995. He permanently moved to the United States in 1997 where he first lived with his brother, Nigel, and his father Richard Duffus. Greg moved to his final home at Riverview in South Glens Falls on December 1, 1998, and started to attend the Saratoga Bridges Wilton Dayhab the next day.
Greg was a man of many colors; he was soulful, loving, joyous, caring, charismatic, passionate, hilarious, lively, exuberant, faithful, and the list goes on! He was one of those people you only need to meet once, and you can never forget him or his smile! His smile was infectious.
Greg just loved everything about life. He loved his music; he definitely could sing a few tunes, and it made you want to sing right along with him. He was a man of faith and loved it when you read him scripture from his Bible.
Greg had a love for good food, especially his Jamaican food! He was so proud of his heritage, his family, and being from Jamaica.
Greg had the ability to make anyone he encountered feel special and important. Greg didn't care about your flaws or imperfections; he always wanted to get to know you, celebrate you, and celebrate WITH you. Greg truly emulated the lyrics (of one of his favorite artist, Bob Marley) "Let's get together and feel alright, (One Love!)"
There is just so much that could be shared about Mr. Greg Sheckells because he truly was an amazing soul! The one thing that is for certain is he will be missed by all who was blessed to know him because he certainly was a man that spread so much love and joy into so many people's lives.
Greg is predeceased by his father Richard Duffus
He is survived by his brothers; Richard Kindlon of Albany, NY and Glen Roy Sheckells and a sister Caroline Sheckells as well as all of his adopted family and residents at AIM and the Wilton Day Program.

Burial will be at the South Side Cemetery in South Glens Falls following the calling hours.
