Gregory Paul Stevens “Petie”
Beech Island, SC — Gregory Paul Stevens “Petie,” age 60, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, peacefully at home and surrounded by the love of his family. A graveside service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the Black/Sanders Family Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Alvin Larke, Jr. officiating.
To many he was Gregory, but to those who truly knew him, he was Petie—a man with a generous heart, a gentle spirit, and a love that reflected God’s own compassion. He was the beloved husband of Angela Black Stevens, devoted father of Jordan (Manse) Jolly and Gregory (Jessica) Stevens, and the most adoring Grandpa to Zoey and Asher Jolly, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.
Born in Conway, SC, Petie made Aiken his home for 45 years. He loved staying busy and helping others, never hesitating to give the shirt off his back—literally. His home proudly displayed his hunting trophies, and his love for fishing only grew sweeter when he recently shared a special fishing trip with his grandson. He was a faithful fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and loved his country music loud and proud.
Petie had a God-given gift for making people feel seen, valued, and cared for. Many said meeting him felt like meeting someone they’d known their whole life. His empathy was deep, his kindness steady, and his heart always open. He carried the burdens of others as if they were his own, reflecting the Lord’s command to love one another.
Above everything, being Grandpa was his greatest blessing. His face lit up around his grandbabies, and the love he poured into them will outlive him for generations.
Petie is survived by his children; two brothers, Scottie (Angela) Stevens and Eric Stevens; four sisters, Lorianne Lyles, Robin Thompkins, Lisa Stevens, and Tina (Bobby) Davis; two grandchildren, Zoey and Asher; nine nieces and nephews; and five nephews he loved as sons. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Charles Stevens and Victoria Jeanette Scott Stevens; his brother Rodney “Buck” Stevens; and his sister Angela Hamlet.
Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice knowing Petie is healed, whole, and in the presence of the Lord he trusted. His love, his laughter, and his faith will forever remain with those who were blessed to know him.
Visitation will be held from 6–8 pm on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Cole Funeral Home, 1544 University Pkwy (118 Bypass), Aiken, SC 29801. Please sign the online registry at www.colefuneralhomeinc.net.
