Gregory Alan Tallent, 59, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 4, 1966, in Chanute, Kansas, to Jerry and Nina (Kimball) Tallent.
Greg graduated from Chanute High School in 1984. He continued to pursue his academic interests at Neosho County Community College from 1984 to 1985 before transferring to Pittsburg State University, where he graduated in 1991. His dedication to education laid a strong foundation that guided him throughout his professional career as an Accountant and Controller.
He was united in marriage to Tracy (Matlock) Goracke in November of 1991 and later divorced.
Greg was known for his vibrant personality and zest for life. He loved the outdoors, often finding joy in playing golf and watching NASCAR races, which he was passionate about. His love for animals and enthusiasm for sports brought him closer to his friends, with whom he enjoyed lively conversations and memorable gatherings. Above all, Greg cherished the moments spent with his family, particularly at the beach, where laughter and love flourished.
Greg is survived by his loving parents, Jerry and Nina Tallent of Chanute, Kansas; his daughters, Payton Tallent of Kansas City, Kansas, and Kelsey and Keeley Tallent, both of Kansas City, Missouri; and his brother, Kevin Tallent of Pittsburg, Kansas. While Greg's grandparents preceded him in death, his legacy will undoubtedly live on through the countless memories he created with his family and friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Castaway Animal Shelter and can be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
A memorial gathering in honor of Greg's life will be on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the American Legion in Chanute, Kansas, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
