Greta Joyce LeDee, 74, was called to her heavenly home Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 6:31pm.
Greta was born on April 14, 1951, to the late Frank Samuel Pitre and Annie Pitre. She is preceded in death by her late sister Drucella Pitre Golden.

Mrs. LeDee was a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and settled in Hinesville Georgia for 34 years after several deployments to Germany between 1973-1990 as a proud Army wife of 55 years to US Army Retired Kenneth J. LeDee.

Greta was immensely proud of her life connected to the military. She embraced the lifestyle with grace and dedication, retiring after more than 30 years of service as a government employee. Her journey took her across the globe, and she took particular pride in having two of her three daughters born in Germany-a testament to the life of travel and cultural richness she worked hard to provide.

Her three daughters were the center of her world, and she poured her heart into raising them with love, strength, and opportunity. As a young woman, Greta was known for her vibrant spirit. She had a magnetic personality, loved to dance, and was always the most stylish person in the room.

Greta expressed her love through food, and nothing said "I love you" more than a pot of her homemade gumbo or a sweet potato pie baked from scratch. Cooking was her love language, and every dish came seasoned with care and soul.

Becoming a grandmother was one of the greatest joys of Greta's life. To her beloved grandchildren, she was known simply and affectionately as "Nena." She adored them deeply and spoke often of how proud she was of each one.

A breast cancer survivor, Greta embodied strength, resilience, and grace. She was one of the most generous souls you could ever meet-quick to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or slip a little help into your palm when you needed it most.

Greta lived a life full of love, laughter, and compassion. Her legacy is one of strength, style, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family.
Cherishing her memory are her husband, Kenneth J. LeDee, her three daughters, Kentrie LeDee (Houston), Kenyette LeDee (Hinesville), Celeste LeDee (San Antonio). Her grandchildren, Donovan Williams, Dana Fontenot, Deleon Madria, Kennese Madria, Drake Fontenot, and Carmelo LeDee. Her great-grandson, Kairo Williams. Five siblings, Sandra Pitre (Lake Charles), Ella Lois Bowman (New Orleans), Frank N. Pitre (Lake Charles), Mona Lisa Hicks (New Orleans), Donald N. Pitre (Savannah), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
