Gretchen Andrews Bush, 85, passed away on February 21, 2025. She was born on November 30, 1939 to parents Paul Hubert and Mally Garrett Andrews. Gretchen was a member of McCann's Chapel United Methodist Church. She was musically talented and enjoyed playing the piano. She loved to travel with her husband, and she adored her dogs. Gretchen was a connoisseur of beautiful things and was gifted with a natural decorator's eye. She was proud of her home and kept it beautifully decorated, especially during times of celebrations such as birthdays and holidays. She was very creative and had a way of looking at things in ways others didn't and seeing the potential in them. Not just things, but people as well. She was very intuitive in an uncanny way and an excellent judge of character. Gretchen was a true people-person, with a vibrant personality that would light up a room when she entered.
Preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Neil Dixon Bush, Sr.
She is survived by her children, Neil Dixon Bush, Jr. (Johnna Larrimore Bush) and Jonathan Andrews Bush (Dianna Henderson Bush); brother, Paul Hubert Andrews, Jr. (Honor November Andrews); grandchildren, Anna Larrimore Marchant (Mark), Kimbell McNeil Bush, Gordon Rex Bush (Faryn), Emily Grace Smelcer (Nolan), Mary Elizabeth Lemley (Ethan); great grandchildren, Allera Grace Marchant, MaryArden Marchant, Elizabeth Primm Marchant, Henry Jase Smelcer, John Lonnell Smelcer; niece, Tara Lee Andrews Knell; nephew, Matthew Craig Andrews, and their mother Rita, as well as other relatives and a host of dear friends.
Services will be Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Lathan Funeral Home, Jackson. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral begins at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Warren Huggins, officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International or Samaritan's Purse.
Pallbearers will be Ethan Lemley, Nolan Smelcer, John Marchant, Rex Henderson, Mark Marchant, Buddy Warrick.
