Lathan Funeral Home - JacksonJames Dwight Walker, 83 of Grove Hill, passed away on March 13, 2026 at Mobile Infirmary surrounded by his family. Dwight was born April 30, 1942 to David McLean and Dorothy Deas Walker. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. To know Dwight was to love him.
Dwight was a true outdoorsman. He loved gardening and sharing his crops with family and friends. He worked for many years in the timber industry. In his spare time he loved to hunt and fish. Dwight enjoyed spending time with his family and always took pleasure in visiting and talking with anyone he came into contact with. He always had a story to tell!
Dwight is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathleen "Kat" Garrick; and brother, Douglas Walker.
He is survived by his son, Eric (Fleaka) Walker; daughters, Dina (Wayne) Phillips and Paige (Jason) Ammons; grandchildren, Matt Walker, Adam Walker, Storm (Jessica) Cabaniss, Cody (Olivia) Cabaniss, Jaya Ammons, Zach Ammons, and Dalton Ammons; six step grandchildren; great grandchildren, Natalie Cabaniss, Gracie Cabaniss, and John Archer Cabaniss; eight step great grandchildren; brother, Stan Walker; sister, Virginia Deas; special friend, Margie Tyler; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Services honoring Dwight's life will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Antioch Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service begins at 12:00 p.m. with Bro. Bill Dortch officiating. Dwight will be laid to rest following the service in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Dwight's memory to Antioch Cemetery Fund, 71 Antioch Road, Grove Hill, AL 36451.
