Gretchen E. Deichert

Gretchen Deichert, of Centerville, passed away peacefully at The Lily House in Wellfleet, MA, at the age of 85.
Born in Summerhill, PA, February 27, 1939, to Frederick and Mary Ethel Deichert, Gretchen grew up in Cresson, PA, graduating from Cresson High School and then Millersville State College, Millersville, PA. Remaining in the Lancaster, PA area after graduation, she taught in the Landisville Elementary School and James Buchanan Elementary School. Gretchen moved to Framingham, MA, where she taught in several Framingham Public Schools including Jonathan Maynard Elementary, and Walsh, Barbieri, Farley and Fuller Middle Schools. She retired from teaching in the mid-1990's to live in Centerville, MA.
Gretchen is survived by her brother William Deichert of Lancaster, PA, numerous nieces and nephews throughout the US, and many beloved friends, neighbors and colleagues. She is predeceased by her sisters Alice Lantz and Lena Pearl Moyer, brothers Harold Deichert, Charles Deichert, and Frederick Deichert, as well as her best friend and companion of many years, Josephine Pandolfino.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main Street, Centerville, MA. Interment of ashes will follow the Mass at Beechwood Cemetery, 1705 Falmouth Rd., Centerville, MA. Expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of Ms. Deichert to The Lily House, 40 Pocahontas Rd., Wellfleet, MA 02667.
