Grover Wesley Clardy

Clardy – Grover Wesley Clardy, age 70, of Lake City, Florida passed away on August 17, 2025, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born in Live Oak, Florida on October 8, 1954, to the late Forest L. Clardy and Lovey A. Crawford Clardy. He was raised in Jacksonville and graduated from Tech High School in 1972. In June 1976, he answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served honorably for two years until his discharge in 1978. Grover resided in Jacksonville for the majority of his life and made Lake City his home in 2023. From a young age, Grover demonstrated a wide range of talents and a strong work ethic. He built a successful career as a machinist at Anheuser-Busch, where he dedicated 25 years of service before retiring in 2010. While working, Grover earned his bachelor's degree in Sociology at University of North Florida graduating in 2006. Grover was known for his love of life and simple pleasures. He enjoyed attending Glen Baptist Church, loved to dance, restore old cars, loaf around, and travel whenever he could. Whether he was on the dance floor, under the hood of a classic car, or just relaxing with family, Grover brought warmth, laughter, and an easygoing spirit to every moment. He was such a treasure and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Grover was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leon J. Clardy.

Grover is survived by his brothers, Calvin (Rosemarie) Clardy of Candler, NC and Terry (Paula) Clardy of Glen St. Mary, FL; sisters, Gale (Jim) Lamb of Jacksonville, FL, Florence (David) Ward of Braselton, GA, Pansy (Mark) Rutter of Valdosta, GA, and Delight Austin of Jacksonville, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nephews.

A Celebration of Grover's Life will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Glen Baptist Church with Pastor Chas Rowland officiating. Interment will follow at North Prong Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday an hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
