Grover V. Lucas, Jr., aged 75 passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2024 after a long battle with illness. He was born in Camden, NJ to the late Grover V. Lucas, Sr, and Virginia (nee Tipton) on January 26, 1948. After graduating from high school, Grover served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. After Grover was discharged from the Navy, he worked for Conrail for 44 years before retiring in 2013. Grover enjoyed playing guitar in a local band in his younger years. Grover earned his black belt in Aikido and was a respected Sensei for South Jersey Aikido Academy. In his retirement he loved traveling with his wife Pat.
Grover is survived by his beloved wife Patricia (nee McFarland), Loving Father of Grover Lucas III (late Krissy), Steven Snyder (John), Kathy Connolly (Joe) and Stepfather of Trisha Carpo (Tony), Lorraine Meyers, Cheryl DeMartino (Paul) and Karyn Tessitore (Jason). Loving Grandfather of Joseph (Ashley) and Corey (Nichole), Stephanie (Nate), the late Lisa, Patrick, the late Donald, Carolyn (Vince), Joshua, Isobel, Sophia, and Olivia. Great-grandfather of Jacen, Alric, Emilia, Aryanna, Steven and Ripland. Loving Brother of his sisters Donna Hall (Jerry) and Karen Nowak (Bill). Predeceased by his sister Ramona Olive. Survived by many nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing from 11:00 am until 12:00pm on Thursday, January 25 at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Funeral services 12pm at the funeral home. Interment at New St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
