Guido A. Padovani, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wilmington on July 22, 1927, he was the son of the late Antonio and Giuseppina (D'Amico) Padovani.
As a young man, Guido worked as a shoemaker in his father's shop. Guido then went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division, during World War II. In the late 1960s, Guido owned Premium Delicatessen on Maryland Avenue, achieving his dream of owning a business. A true family man and devoted husband, he treasured most being Dad and PopPop.
Guido is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eleanor (Mulshenock) Padovani; his daughters, Lisa Picarro and Renee Cilia (Richard); his sons, Guido (Patricia), Michael, Nicholas, and Mario; his grandchildren, Angela, Dominique, Dante, Samantha, Jillian, Vincent, Michael, Kristin, Ryan, Skyler, and Cassandra; his 17 great-grandchildren; his brother, Victor; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Guido was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Lilly; his sisters, Matilda, Josephine, Mary, Adele, Jean, and Alice; and his brothers, Henry, Anthony, and Ernest.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Tuesday, December 3 from 4:30 – 6:30 PM.
