nosotros.

Descansa en paz, Papi Memo. Tu memoria será eterna en nuestros corazones.

Life of Papi Memo – Guillermo de la Zerda

Guillermo de la Zerda, lovingly known as Papi Memo, was born in the city of

Cochabamba, Bolivia, in 1927.

He was the son of Gumersindo de la Zerda and María Garnica de la Zerda. He grew up

surrounded by the love of his siblings: Óscar, Julia, Zoila, Fausta, Guillermo, Antonieta,

Jaime, and Hugo de la Zerda.

As a young man, he moved to the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, where he met the

great love of his life, Dila Lijeron Rivero. United by a deep affection, they were married

on October 20, 1956. From that union came their eight children: Benita, Antonio, Ivana, María

Leticia, María Elena, René, Yaneth, and José Luis de la Zerda.

With hard work, sacrifice, and above all with love, they built a strong family grounded in

values. Life later led them to embark on a new journey, as the de la Zerda family began

emigrating to the United States of America. On September 6, 1990, Guillermo and Dila

made that journey together, first settling in Rhode Island, where they lived for seven

years. Later, in 1998, they moved to New Port Richey, Florida, where they lived

surrounded by most of their children and grandchildren until this very day.

Papi Memo was a hardworking, kind, and wise man. He always had words of

encouragement, a genuine smile, and an open heart for his family and for everyone who

knew him. His greatest pride was his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and the

generations that followed- to whom he gave the very best of himself.

Today, we say goodbye with deep sadness, but also with infinite gratitude for his

exemplary life. His legacy of love, unity, and strength will live forever in each of us.

Rest in peace, Papi Memo. Your memory will be eternal in our hearts.
