Gurmit Kaur Bhinder, a beloved homemaker and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026. She was born on April 13, 1945, in Kotla Khushipur, India, where her journey began, filled with love and warmth that she would carry throughout her life.
Gurmit's life was a testament to the power of family and the bonds that tie us together. Throughout her years, she dedicated herself to creating a nurturing home for her loved ones. She was the heart of her family, guiding and supporting her children—Amanbir (Harman) Bhinder, Jasmeet (Kashmir) Dhillon, Satinder (Gurpreet) Bal, Kamal (Bill) Sandhu, Palwinder (Rajinderpal) Bhullar, and Kulbir (Gagan) Padda—in every endeavor they undertook, instilling in them the values of kindness, integrity, and resilience.
Gurmit is lovingly remembered by her brother, Dalbir Singh, and her sister, Narinder Kaur, whose lives she brightened with her unwavering spirit and affection. Her siblings held a special place in her heart, and the moments they shared together will forever resonate in their memories.
While Gurmit's parents, Kartar Kaur and Makhan Singh, and her husband, Mohan Singh, have all passed, their legacies, along with Gurmit's life, will endure in the stories and lessons she imparted. Their love laid the foundation for the beautiful family that Gurmit cultivated, one that she cherished deeply.
A prayer service honoring her life will be held on January 10, 2026, at the Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary in Carmel, Indiana, starting at 11:00 AM with a concluding service at 2:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman whose impact was felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
