Guy Steven Achelpohl

Guy Steven Achelpohl, 75, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away peacefully with family at his side on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 in Hickory Creek Nursing Home Scottsburg, Indiana Steve, or "Pap" as his given name by his grandchildren, was born June 28, 1949 to Wilbert and Mary Motsinger Achelpohl of Jackson County, Indiana.
He was well known for his joking personality, stories of traveling from state-to-state hitchhiking, time as an enlisted sailor in the United States Navy, and his many trips to New Orleans, Florida, California and Big Sky Montana, where he worked on oil rigs and as a farm hand, and lastly his love of Arkansas Razorback Basketball. During this era, Steve fathered 3 sons. Once he settled down, he was employed at Morgan Foods in Austin, Indiana, where Steve retired after 20 + years of service.
On December 12, 1998 Steve married Wanda Campbell Baker, and they lived together on "Rainbow Farm" as the grandchildren called it until her passing recently, less than three weeks ago
Steve is survived by his sons, Joey Achelpohl; James Achelpohl; Josh Achelpohl; Stepchildren: Brenda Lainhart; Linda (Ray) Dawson; Charlie (Lisa) Baker; Brothers: Larry Achelpohl; John Baird; Bob Baird. several grandchildren, nephews and nieces..
He was preceded in death by parents Web and Mary Achelpohl, step-dad Frances (P-Dad) Baird, who Steve lovingly referred to as his dad, brother Ronnie Achelpohl, step-sons Ronnie Baker and David Baker, son-in-law Jay Lainhart, and his wife, Wanda Baker Achelpohl.
Funeral Service: 12:00 Noon Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin, Indiana
Visitation will be 10 am to 12 noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Emmanuel Baptist Cemetery in Lexington, Indiana.
