Fred Neace Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Buchanan Funeral Home - Austin on Mar. 16, 2026.
Fred Neace, passed away at the age of 80 on March 13, 2026, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on October 20, 1945, in Engle, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Brack and Roma Neace. Fred's life was marked by his bravery and service to his country, as he served with distinction during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army.

Fred's legacy is carried on by his loving family, including his stepsons, Jimmy Baker and his wife Lisa, and the late David Baker, survived by his wife Colleene. He was a proud grandfather to Amanda Clem, Benjamin Baker, Collin Baker, Miranda Baker, and the late Matthew Baker. His joy was further multiplied by his great-grandchildren, Chandler Baker, Isaiah Baker, Glen Hess, Kylee Baker, Alyssa Baker, Ariya Clark, Elliot Cochran, and Amelia Baker. Fred was a source of wisdom and love for his family, and his guidance will be deeply missed.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents and stepson, were his beloved wife, Martha Neace, who passed away just over four years prior, and his siblings Asberry Neace, Asdruble Neace, Brack Neace Jr., Lucy Begley, Rosa Helton, Lola Bush, Mary Angel, and Myrtle Riley. His memory will be cherished by his surviving brothers, Green Neace, Deputy, and Wayne Neace, as well as his sisters, Oredus Everhart and Betty Draper.

Fred's life will be honored at a funeral service scheduled for 12:00 Noon on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin, Indiana. The service will be officiated by Rev. Chris Barlow. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday and after 9 am on Thursday at Buchanan Funeral Home.

Fred will be laid to rest at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana. In a tribute to his military service, a Military Graveside will be conducted by the American Legion Post #234 Honor Guard, honoring his dedication and sacrifice for his country.
