Robert Collins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Buchanan Funeral Home - Austin on Mar. 5, 2026.
Robert LeRoy "Rubberneck" Collins, Age 84, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Born Sept. 21, 1941 to the late Ancil and Virginia Sealey Collins in Elizabethtown, Ky. Robert lived a colorful life, he traveled across the United States after he left the U.S. Army where he trained as a medic at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. Roberts travels led him to Dan and Ethel Collins in 1964. Robert pulled up in a baby blue convertible and found his forever home. Dan and Ethel's Children

came to be his own. He became a stand in "Pap" after Dan's death in 1998. Robert made a deathbed promise to Dan to always take Care of Ethel and the young grandchildren he undoubtedly fulfilled until his last breath.

He lived with Katherine, Braydan, Nathaniel, and Richard Collins. Braydan and Nathaniel got to listen to his endless stories about all the Collins'

Children, his resentment of cold weather, his love of "Little House on the Prairie" and "Young Sheldon". They cared for him and kept him supplied in Dr. Pepper and fast break Candy bars. Robert had a love hate relationship with lottery tickets, but would deny buying any, Robert had so much love to give and his family were lucky to be included in it.

Survivors include his sisters, Thelma Sears, Dorothy Delong.

He is also survived by, Elsie Cooper of Liberty, Kentucky, Eddy Collins, Betty Collins, both of Scottsburg, Bobbi Lanham, Katherine Collins- Jolly, Richard Collins, Virgil Collins all of North Vernon, Indiana, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by, sisters, Geneva, Mary, Iree, also Dan and Ethel Collins, Nannie Dial, Shelia Hollan, and Shelby White.

Robert will be missed by everyone that was blessed to be included in his life.
