Mary Grass Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woodlawn Funeral Home & Garden of Memories on Oct. 24, 2025.
Mary Adele Swayze Grass, 98, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Mary was born September 5, 1927, in Conway, Arkansas to Gladys and Richard Swayze and became a little sister to Pauline.
Mary and Pauline were not only devoted sisters but the very best of friends throughout their lives. Their bond was a constant source of love, laughter, and strength to all who knew them.
Mary was a graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She worked at Humble Oil as a secretary in the personnel office. Mary married the love of her life, Larry Grass on July 1, 1950, and they had three beautiful children, Vicki, Randy and Charlie. Mary loved being a mother and wife and spending time with her beloved family. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays and especially loved listening to Frank Sinatra music!
Mary was a beautiful woman from the inside out. She was a pillar in the family. Mary was and always will be an inspiration and a model of true grace.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother Gladys Thornton, father Richard Swayze, husband Larry Grass, son Charlie Grass, and sister Pauline McCorvey. She leaves behind daughter Vicki Grass, son Randy Vongraff and wife Janet, and a host of loving family members.
A visitation is planned for Wednesday, October 29th, 2025 from 3 PM until 7 PM at the Woodlawn Funeral Home. The service will be Thursday, October 30th, 2025 at 11 AM at the Woodlawn Funeral Home, with burial and reception to follow.
