Guy Deeds Obituary
A time of viewing will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 1-5 p.m. at Maltbie Funeral Services, 265 W. 8th Ave., Springfield, CO. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Maltbie Funeral Services. Interment will be held at Springfield Cemetery following the service where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Val Mae Deeds and son, Randal (Dude) Deeds.
Guy and Val Venter Deeds were Married in 1951 in Clayton, NM and to this union three sons were born: Richard Guy (Launa), Ronald Val (Carla) and Randal, deceased.
Guy graduated from Pritchett High School then continued on with his education by graduating from Colorado State University with an academic scholarship in 1955. While in college he enrolled in the ROTC program and later joined the Army. His first teaching position was in Granada, CO. and the following year Guy and his family moved to the family farm in Pritchett, Co. In 1958-59 he taught science & chemistry in Kim, Co. The next two years he taught science, chemistry & coached basketball & football in Springfield, Co. A teaching position opened at Pritchett, CO. in 1966 and Guy started the first Vocational Ag. Program in Baca County and held that position for the next 12 years until he retired. After 22 years of teaching and coaching he retired and continued to farm and ranch on the family homestead until he was 84 years old. In Guy's later years in life he related to family that his greatest passion in life was that he was able to teach & mold young people and have an influence on their lives.
Guy is also survived by a sister, Sherry Keffeler: brother-in-law, Don Venter: grandchildren, Chad Deeds (Sunny), Charity Deeds, Tiffany Allen (Ty), Ronna McAdams (Kyle), Randi Mackey (Corby), Jessica Austin, Jenetta Baxter (Kurt): 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
