Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edwards Funeral Home & Cremations - Kinston on Feb. 24, 2026.
Kinston – Guy Alan Jones, 82, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.

At his request, there will be no services.

Born on May 28, 1943, to Willie and Evelyn Stocks Jones, Guy grew up in Lenoir County, where he attended Catholic school. He proudly served four years in the National Guard as a sharpshooter. Following his service, he began his career at Caswell Development Center, while also owning a small engine repair mechanic shop, and a small furniture service. After 31 years, he retired after a career rooted in hard work and dedication.

Guy loved fishing, spending time on the boat, and being outdoors. Above all, he enjoyed gathering with those closest to him, especially cooking and sharing meals together. He was a devoted grandfather and a proud and loving "girl dad."

In addition to his parents, Guy is preceded in death by his daughter, Brittany Jones, two brothers, and one sister.

He is survived by the love of his life, Sara Taylor; daughters, Jennifer Mercer (Jon), Marilyn Cash, and Angela Jones ; three brothers, one sister, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; and two special friends, James Quinn and Kenny Jones.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have offered love, support, and kind words during this time. Your prayers, visits, calls, and acts of kindness have been deeply appreciated and will always be remembered.
