Memorial service for Guy Powell age 70 of Creighton, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Clearwater American Legion in Clearwater, Nebraska. Burial will be in McCoy Cemetery at Meadow Grove, Nebraska. Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater is handling the arrangements. Guy passed away peacefully on January 1, 20026 at the Avera Creighton Care Center in Creighton, Nebraska. Condolences may be directed to the family at www.snidermemorial.com
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to donate to Guy Powell Benefit Account set up at the Brunswick State bank in Winnetoon, NE for medical Expenses.
Guy Ira Powell was born to Raynold and Julia (Worley) Powell on February 18, 1955 at Lutheran Hospital in Norfolk, Nebraska. Guy passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026 at the Avera Creighton Care Center in Creighton, Nebraska. Guy married Emmie (Thiessen) on December 8, 1973 in Clearwater, Nebraska. From this union, they were blessed with 4 children, Carmela, Megan, Duane and Jacob. They were divorced on October 13, 1999.
Guy worked in construction in 1974 for the Union Pacific Railroad Bailey Yard during the time that the Golden Spike Tower in North Platte, Nebraska was being built. Guy had many talents, he worked construction (highway & railroad); drove semitruck for several businesses; a diesel mechanic for CTC of Norfolk; Michaels Foods in Bloomfield; and Creighton Livestock Market until the time of declining health prevented him from continuing to work.
Guy received his High School Diploma from Wayne School, Chicago Illinois on May 14, 1975. Guy had a love for horses, watching old western movies, NASCAR racing, collecting cookie jars, and working on cars and trucks. His favorite song was "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" Main Theme by Ennio Marricone.
Guy met his wife Medea (Grayson) and they were married on August 10, 2018 in the Center, Nebraska at the City Park.
Guy is survived by his wife, Medea; Daughters-Carmela (Kevin) Curtis, Winner, SD; Megan (Brandon) Jackson, O'Neill, NE; Sons-Duane Powell, West Fargo, ND; and Jacob (Carmen) Powell, Norfolk, NE; Stepson-Michael (Christina) Grayson, Fort Benning, Columbus, GA. Sisters-Donna Koehler, O'Neill, NE; Sherry (James) Babcock, Winnetoon, NE; and Starla Learner, Stanton, NE. Sister-In-Law-Phaedra Seidel, San Diego, CA; Mother-In-Law-Darleana Medeiros. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Raynold and Julia Powell; father-in-law-Emanuel (Manny) Medeiros; many Aunts, Uncles, & Cousins.
