Guy Frank Sillay passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of August 2, 2025, at his home in Cumming, Georgia, at the age of 94. Born on April 23, 1931, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, Guy lived a long and meaningful life defined by service, creativity, faith, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Guy graduated from Joseph E. Brown High School in Atlanta, GA, a member of the Class of 1949. He was proud to be a member of the 1949 Georgia State AA Championship football team. A proud U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Guy was a lifelong supporter of fellow servicemen and women and remained active in the veteran community as a member of American Legion Post 307. After his military service, he pursued his passion for design and graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in Textile Design from the College of Architecture. Guy highly valued his education and encouraged his children to continue their education. He served as the Chairman of the Habersham County Board of Education.

He enjoyed a long and successful career in the textile industry, where his talent and vision left a lasting impression. Later in life, Guy transitioned into medical equipment sales, working alongside his dear friend Rudy Rosenberg, whom he had served with in the Army. He found fulfillment in both the work and the enduring friendships it brought.

Guy was a faithful member of Bethelview United Methodist Church in Cumming, Georgia, where his gentle spirit and quiet strength were a blessing to his community.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Martha Ann Chapman Sillay; his five children: Lynne Sillay (Julian) Adams, Michael (Karen) Washington Sillay, Tamara Sillay (Joseph) Richwine, Jeffrey (Autumn) Andrews, Sillay and Jason (Sara) Garwood Sillay; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one precious great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Roy Steven Sillay, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Guy will be remembered for his integrity, compassion, warm sense of humor, and the deep love he showed his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched.
