Gwendolyn "Gwen" Crum Fitzgerald, 91, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025. Gwen was born on December 15, 1933, to James Albert Crum and Romie Lorene Williams Crum. She grew up on the family farm at Winn Hill in Jack County and attended the Jermyn school before graduating from Jacksboro High School. She married Leroy Fitzgerald, and they were stationed in San Antonio, Texas, before returning home to Jack County to raise their two children, Ronald and Elaine. Gwen was a secretary at George Porter Insurance Company for many years, and she subsequently went on to work at several other insurance companies in Jacksboro. Gwen faithfully cared for Leroy during his prolonged illness before his death in 2002. Gwen and Leroy were members of First Baptist Church. Gwen was an avid collector of collections and loved garage sales and antique shopping. In her retirement, she and her dear friend Gayle Burleson enjoyed traveling with Agape Tours, and Gwen was an active participant with Concerned Citizens of Jack County. Gwen was proceeded in death by her husband, Leroy Fitzgerald; daughter and son-in law, Elaine and Randy Vinson; parents, James and Romie Crum; brothers, Edward Crum, Leslie Crum, Charles Richard Crum, Everett Leroy Crum; sisters, Thelma Leatherwood, Verda Lee King, Barbara Newton, Judy Laughlin, and Wanda Crum Boyd; brothers-in-law, Carl Fitzgerald and Don Fitzgerald; and sister-in-law, Carole Fitzgerald. Gwen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Anna Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Callie Fitzgerald Kostelich (Blu), Jimmie Fitzgerald (Sarah), Jessica Vinson Garcia (Ricky), and Michael Vinson; great-grandchildren, Slate Fitzgerald, Juliana Mae Kostelich, Della Ruth Fitzgerald, Grant Garcia, and Grace Elaine Garcia (due in January); sister-in-law, Sue Fitzgerald; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Maria Salazar, Gwen's longtime in-home caregiver and friend; Greystone Assisted Living for their loving care of Gwen the past two years; and Faith Community Hospital, AVIR Community Nursing and Rehab, and Beyond Faith Hospice for their attentive care in Gwen's final days. The funeral service will be Saturday, September 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Coker Funeral Home in Jacksboro, Texas. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 10:00-10:45 before the funeral service.
