Mrs. Gwendolyn Murphy Jenkins, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Washington County Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in Brownwood Cemetery with Reverend Stacy Williford officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jenkins was a lifelong resident of Sandersville, the daughter of the late W.C. Murphy, Jr. and the late Rubye Gilmore Murphy. She was a homemaker who enjoyed working with her roses and spending time with her family and her church friends. Mrs. Jenkins loved her family dearly and her love was so large that DNA did not matter. She was a faithful member of Sisters Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Loren Jenkins; and sons, Bruce, Brian, and Richard Jenkins, Sr.
Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her children, Barbara Jones (Greg) and Bill Jenkins, both of Sandersville; grandchildren, Chris Jenkins (Tetra), Abigail Jones, Robbie Jenkins, Sam Jones, and Richard Jenkins, Jr. (Zoe), and Heather Foskey (Hugh); great grandchildren, Logan Jenkins, Bowie Henry, John Jenkins, and Harley Davis; sisters, Mary Murphy and Karen May; nieces, Rebecca May and Anna Vickery (Jason); and many other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Christian Life Center, P.O. Box 5057, Sandersville, Ga 31082.
