Mrs. Gwendolyn Spinks, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, in her hometown of Peoria, IL surrounded by her family, at the age of 72. Gwendolyn was born on August 11, 1953, in Peoria, IL to a large and lively family parented by Robert, Jr, and Elease (Lobdell) Linwood. She married Ted Spinks in 2007 in Peoria, IL. Gwendolyn's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and community. Her beloved husband of 18 years, Ted Spinks, will forever hold dear the memories they created together in Peoria, IL. She was a nurturing mother to her sons, Michael Linwood, Jr. of Clinton, IA and Marcus Linwood of Peoria, IL. Gwendolyn was the sister to a remarkable sibling group, sharing life's journey with Dewayne (Phyllis) Linwood, Terry Linwood, and Robert Linwood, all of Peoria, IL; Derrick Linwood and David Linwood, both of Pontiac, MI; Elana Linwood, Chawana Linwood, and Lerra Linwood, all of Peoria, IL; and Carla Linwood of Gary, IN. Gwendolyn's life was enriched by the laughter and support of her brothers and sisters, and their bond remained unbreakable through the years. Gwendolyn's spirit extended beyond her immediate family to her numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends who adored her. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles Linwood, Larry Linwood and Steve Linwood and three sisters, Barbara Linwood, Renee Linwood and Vetta Linwood. Gwendolyn's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. For over 18 years, she was a devoted member of City on a Hill Church. She poured her heart into service, whether through the hospitality ministry, benevolent ministry, music ministry, or auxiliary team. Her willingness to serve wherever needed was a reflection of her generous nature. Gwendolyn enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, organizing events, and indulging in pampering herself by getting her nails done. These activities brought her happiness, but nothing compared to the time spent with her grandchildren, whom she adored. Gwendolyn's journey on this earth has ended, but the impact of her life will continue to resonate. She has left behind a legacy of love, commitment, and faith that will continue to guide and comfort her family and friends. Her memory will be cherished, her spirit celebrated, and her life's story told with reverence and admiration. Gwendolyn Spinks will be deeply missed, yet her light will forever shine in the hearts of those she touched. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at City On A Hill Church with a visitation at 10 am. Pastor William Preston will officiate. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at SimonsMortuary.com.
