H. Phillip "Phil" Canada, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, was called home by the Lord on October 11, 2025, at the age of 82, in Dripping Springs, TX. Born on August 5, 1943, in Jerome, ID, Phil's life was marked by his deep Christian faith, his artistic talent, and his adventurous spirit.
Phil was a graduate of the University of Utah, where he studied Art and Design. His creativity led him to the family business Hafer's Incorporated in Salt Lake City, UT, where he served as a graphic designer and owner. Phil's artistic abilities were not only evident in his professional work but also in his personal life, as he created beautiful works of art that he shared with the world.
A man of deep religious conviction, Phil lived his faith through his involvement with Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. He participated in bible studies and various ministries, always eager to share the love of Christ with others. Phil's relationship with the Lord was the cornerstone of his life, and it was this faith that guided him through every adventure and challenge.
Phil's zest for life was infectious. From rebuilding old cars and trucks in his youth to enjoying motorcycle rides with his family and friends, he was always ready for a new experience. As a member of Bikers for Christ and the founder of a biker group in his later years, Phil combined his love for the open road with his dedication to his faith.
An avid treasure hunter, Phil spent countless hours with his metal detector in search of old coins, and he cherished the memories of looking for old bottles with his father-in-law. Gold prospecting became a favored hobby among his friends, and his artistic eye often found beauty in the most unexpected places.
Phil was a talented artist whose logos and designs were not only the hallmark of his business but also a testament to his creative spirit. Many of his artworks were sold, leaving a legacy of beauty and inspiration.
Above all, Phil was a family man. He was preceded in death by parents Harold Lee Canada and Dorothy Francis Hafer and by his beloved wife, Bonnie Jean Canada, and his son-in-law, Samuel Burdge. He is survived by his loving daughters, Angela Burdge and Cinda Canada; his grandchildren, Phillip Burdge and his wife Andrea, and Emilee Burdge. His great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Nathaniel Burdge, Krystal Springs and Baine Dobson.
Phil also leaves behind his brother, Michael Canada and his wife Sheila; his sister, Carole Triplett and her husband Robert; and his brother, Douglas Canada and his wife Diane, along with many other relatives and friends who will miss his dry wit and generous spirit.
We take comfort in the knowledge that Phil is now resting in the arms of our Savior. His legacy of love, art, and adventure will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. We love you, Dad, and we eagerly await the day we will see you again.
