Dr. John Hal Jameson - Easley, SC Dr. John Hal Jameson, 93, formerly of North B. Street, husband of the late Sue McCall Jameson, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Foothills Retirement Community. Born May 17, 1917, he was a life-long resident of his home on North B Street. A descendent of pioneer families of Pickens, Greenville and Anderson Counties, he was a son of the late Dr. Leo Lake and Nettie Ellison Jameson. Dr. Jameson was a 1934 graduate of Easley high School, a 1938 graduate of Clemson College, a 1941 graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina, he served his internship at Greenville General Hospital. Along with Dr. J.A. White, he founded the Easley Medical Center, retiring after more than forty years. A life-long and oldest member of Easley First United Methodist Church, he served as Steward and was a member of the Finance Committee. Dr. Jameson was Major, US Army Medical Corps, in World War II, serving in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines in the Sixth Army. A founding trustee of what became Easley Baptist Hospital, which is present-day Palmetto Health Baptist Easley Hospital, he was past President of Pickens County Medical Society and served twelve years on the S.C. Medical Associationâ??s Council. Dr. Jameson served as director of Blue Cross Blue Shield for over twenty years, was President of S.C. Blue Shield from 1965 to 1971, was on the original Board of Visitors of the S.C. Medical University, and served on the Board of Directors of Carolina National Bank for over twenty-five years. He was past president of the Easley Lions Club, a long-time member and past chairman of the Pickens County Cultural Commission and a founding member of the Jameson Family Cemetery, Inc. Association. With a life-long love affair with Jocassee Valley, he was one of Mr. Julian A. Wyattâ??s boys, having a home between White Water and Thompson Rivers and later a home on Lake Keowee. Dr. Jameson was a long-time key player in the preservation, restoration and operation of the Hagood Mill Historic Site and Folklife Center in Pickens, SC and received the Order of the Palmetto in May, 2010. Dr. Jameson is survived by his children, Charlotte Jameson Watson of Easley, John Hal Jameson, Jr. of Tallahassee, FL. and Williams McCall Jameson of Easley; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Dr. Jameson was predeceased by a son, Robert Lake "Bobby" Jameson; a brother, Lake Hugh Jameson and a sister, Martha Jameson Carson. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Easley First United Methodist Church with Rev. Julie Schaaf and Rev. Jim Correll officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Friday and will be placed in the church at 1:00 PM Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Jameson Family Cemetery Preservation Fund, c/o Michael M. Johnson, 523 Jameson Road, Easley, SC 29640. The family is at the home of Charlotte and Michael Watson, 1213 Thomas Mill Road (Dacusville Community), Easley, SC 29640 and at the home of Bill Jameson, 101 King Circle, Easley, SC 29640. My dad, Dr. Doug Ellis from Florence, SC, was Dr. Jameson's roommate all four years of medical school. They remained close friends for decades. Our prayers and thoughts are with all the family.
