Hank Dunlap, age 83, of Winfield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 3, 2023. Hank was born on October 26, 1940 in Chicago, IL to Francis and Alice Dunlap. He lived a life rich with family and friends.
Hank graduated from Lisle High School in 1959 where he played on the football team. He developed a love for fast cars which started with his ‘57 Chevy.
Hank was proud to serve as an engineer on the Lisle Fire Protection District during the 1960s.
He married Barbara Saylor in 1975.
Hank was a retired electrician. A true craftsman, he was a proud member of the IBEW Local 701 for over 40 years.
In his leisure time, Hank seized life. Enjoying time with Barb on their boat or riding their Harley Davidsons. Winding down listening to Pink Floyd, faithfully following his beloved Blackhawks, or working with his skilled hands on various projects and crafts.
His warm heart, social ease and quick wit earned him many friends across all walks of life. He brought joy into the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Hank’s truest passion, however, was his love for his family, and ours for him.
Hank is survived by his wife, Barbara Dunlap; sons, Hank (Glynnis) Dunlap and David (Simone Schuppan) Dunlap; grandchildren, Nathan (Ali) Dunlap, Beth (Christian) Hollis, Rachel (Scott) Foley, Josh Dunlap, John Henry Dunlap, Kelton Schuppan and Phelan Schuppan; greatgrandchildren, Maeve and Benjamin; brother, Jerry (Rachel) Dunlap; sister, Francine (Bob) Blazek; nieces, Dawn (Jeff) Lewis and Kari (Brandon) Murphy; brother-in-law, Tom (Bonnie) Saylor; niece, Jenny Saylor; nephew Tom (Emily) Saylor; and many other relatives and friends.
