Henry F. Steiger Jr. was born on January 19, 1942, in Saint Louis City, Missouri, and departed this life on December 23, 2025, in Valley Park, Missouri. His life journey was marked by love, commitment, and a passion for exploration.
A dedicated husband, Henry shared "56 loving years of marriage to same woman he would say" with his beloved wife, Sandra L. (nee David) Steiger. Their enduring partnership was a testament to their mutual respect and affection. He was also a devoted father to David H. Steiger, nurturing a bond that reflected the deep love he had for his family. Additionally, Henry was the cherished brother of Barb Steiger and held dear connections with his cousins, nieces, and nephews, who all looked up to him with admiration and love.
Professionally, Henry was a long-time member of the St. Louis Theater Organ Society (SLTOS), where he not only embraced a significant role as a member but also served on their board for nine years. His contributions to the society underscored his commitment to the arts and community.
An avid traveler, Henry had a love for vacationing, having explored all 50 states and various destinations abroad. Those who knew him well can attest to the vibrant stories he shared from his adventures, reflecting his zest for life and new experiences. He always had a smile on his face when you see him, was kind and cheerful with a good sense of humor.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Henry F. & Dorothy V. (nee Branditz) Steiger, Sr., who played a foundational role in shaping the values he carried throughout his life. Older sister Joyce Ann (the late Jim) Fitch.
As we remember Henry F. Steiger Jr., we celebrate a life rich in love, passion, and dedication to family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held on January 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on January 3, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Homes - South County Chapel, located at 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd, St. Louis, MO 63129. A Funeral Service will follow on January 3 at 10:00 AM, with a Graveside Service taking place at St Paul Churchyard, 7600 S Rock Hill Rd, St. Louis, MO 63123 at 11:15 AM.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Humane Society of Missouri.
