Hannah Hagg Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ramsey Funeral Home & Crematorium on Aug. 7, 2025.
With great sadness and devastation, we announce the passing of Hannah Brooke Hagg (Curran), 35, of League City, Texas, which occurred on August 1st, 2025. Hannah was born in Los Gatos, California, on May 22nd, 1990, to Jennifer and Peter Curran. Hannah had a vigor for life and wanted to experience all that the world had to offer. She was born with an artistic gift and was able to share her amazing artwork with the world through her art markets and commissions. Hannah was truly mother nature's child. She strove to be outside in nature, in the sunlight, with all of the animals, insects, and plants. During her time on this earth, she had six "children," all of whom were lizards. Five bearded dragons (Jim, Ziggy, Lou, Stephen, and Wednesday), and one Argentinian Tegu (Stevie). Three of the bearded dragons had unfortunately passed away during her time, but we know she is with them now, sitting outside sunning with them, and going on long kayak rides through endless lakes and rivers, which she so loved doing. After spending her first few months in California, Hannah's family moved to the Austin, Texas area (Austin, Pflugerville, and then Round Rock). Growing up in Austin nurtured her creativity from an early age. Seeing all of the murals and sculptures, while being surrounded by the self-proclaimed "weirdos," made her want to share in the experience. While in Round Rock, Hannah and her family were members of the Palm Valley Lutheran Church, where she was able to share her love and compassion for others through her mission work in Arkansas, Juarez, and El Salvador. She always expressed that helping others gave her a purpose and an inspiration in her own life, both in how she treated others and in her art. Hannah met the love of her life, Matt Hagg, in college in 2008, at the University of Texas Pan-American, in Edinburg, Texas. From the moment their eyes met, they knew they were soul mates and would have the opportunity to share all of the beauty that this world has to offer together. Hannah and Matt were married in 2014 in Bend, Oregon, surrounded by all of their family and friends, at one of the infamous Sells family reunions. Hannah's first big job was at the International Museum of Art and Science (IMAS) in McAllen, Texas. Working as a tour guide and running her own art studio helped influence and shape her style and purpose as an artist. Her main goal as an artist was to capture feelings, either in someone's face, or through the vibe of a place and time, and psychology was always a major theme. After six years in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, Hannah and Matt had visions of something greater, and in 2015, they moved to San Francisco, California. While spending five years in the bay area, Hannah was able to fully immerse herself in the famous art culture. She had two jobs while she was there; the first was working at Aim Higher as an art instructor in Sunnyvale, and then she worked at The Arc as a job coach in San Francisco, and as an art instructor in Daly City, working both jobs with adults with disabilities, or as she liked to say, adults with different abilities. Her clients were her life, and they gave her such a purpose to provide the best day possible for them through her art lessons and job coaching. After five years in the bay area, the pull to go back to Texas was too much, and Hannah and Matt moved to the Houston area of League City. Living in the Houston area, Hannah found yet another art-filled community encircled in lush scenery and unique people. With art and history surrounding her, as well as beautiful plants and animals, inspiration came all of the time. While in League City, Hannah created her own art business, frequenting art markets, and leaving her mark on the world through her commissions for many, many people. One of her proudest commissions was in her own apartment community where she was asked to paint boat storage boxes for the local harbor that is connected to the complex. Knowing that her art was being spread around the community and the world gave her great pride, and her legacy will always live on, not only through her art that she shared with so many, but with all of the lives she touched along the way. Everyone who was lucky enough to meet Hannah instantly felt a comfort through the love and understanding that she exuded, and although she has left us too early, her inspiration and love will live on in all of us and we hope that everyone that met and knew Hannah will take her example and share that love and compassion with everyone they encounter in this world, and, hopefully, through that, we can ensure and know that she truly did make this world a better place. Hannah is survived by her Husband Matt Hagg; Mother Jennifer Schapery (Randy) of Liberty Hill, TX; Father Peter Curran (Sue Comanche) of Ruidoso, NM; Sister Hailey Curran (Susan) of DeSoto, TX; Brother Hans Curran (Chelsea) of Ruidoso, NM; Uncle Danny Morris of Austin, TX; In-laws Curt and Leigh Hagg of Austin, TX; Sister-in-law Jules Schapery of Austin, TX; Uncle Jim (Caryn) of Carlsbad, CA; Uncle Jeff (Marci) of Georgetown, TX; Nieces Jovie, Jada, Birdie, and Darlene Curran, and Nephew Kingston Curran. Hannah was preceded in death by her grandparents Mary-Lou and Bob Curran; Claude and Terri Morris; her cousin Jaron Morris; and three of her beloved bearded dragons, Jim, Ziggy, and Lou, who we are sure she is holding closely now. The funeral service will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home (5600 Williams Dr, Georgetown, TX) on August 16th, 2025, at 2pm, and a reception will be held following the service at Palm Valley Lutheran Church (2500 E Palm Valley Blvd, Round Rock, TX). All family and friends are welcome to attend both the service and the reception. There will be a live stream of the funeral service, provided through the Ramsey Funeral Home website (Web Casting Link on their website), for those who are not able to attend in person. Please select the link below to access the live stream: In Memory of Hannah Hagg Hannah shared her love for the world through everything she touched and everyone she met. Her love for her husband, parents, in-laws, sister, brother, grandparents, nieces, nephew, and the rest of her family, will forever be felt. Her husband would so like to reiterate one of her favorite quotes, "Take me back to the start," and wishes that this was possible. May we all remember our wonderful Hannah and how big of an impact she made on all of our lives.
