Hannelore Nowitzki Eglitis Age 95
July 14, 1929-April 25, 2025
Hannelore passed peacefully on Friday afternoon, April 25, 2025 with her children at her side.
Hannelore was born in Germany on July 14th 1929. After her marriage, she moved to the United States in 1956, where she settled down in Michigan and became a US citizen.
Hannelore retired from the Salvation Army Children's home in Detroit, where she worked for many years.
Her hobbies included gardening, vegetables and growing flowers. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and needle work.
Hannelore loved spending time with her children and grandchildren at the lake, along with her passion for her or anyone else's dog.
Hanna loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor which remained with her until the end.
Hannelore is survived by her children; Sylvia Cook, John Eglitis, Mara Riley, Carl Eglitis.
She is proceeded in death by her daughter Eva Aulwes and her companion for many, many years, Elias Poksans.
Hannelore has 5 grand children:
Tracey Galaska, Sarah Cook, Gregory Cook, Hanna (Darren) Swan,
Garrett Eglitis, Kari Eglitis,
Shelby Eglitis.
Two great grandchildren:
Ashley Galaska, Jordan (Kristina) Galaska, and Lillian Cook.
One great, great grandchild:
Jordan William Galaska.
Cremation will occur and a private family celebration of her life will be at a later date per Hannalore's request.
