Hans Peter Till passed away at Grace Edgewood Assisted Living in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on September 25, 2025 at the age of 81.

Hans Peter was born on the 14th of July, 1944 during WWII, in Austria, to John and Elisabeth. Shortly after his birth, Elisabeth received word that John had been shot and killed in France and shortly after that, Elisabeth and Hans Peter found themselves loaded onto cattle cars and shipped throughout Europe as refugees and looking for a home. When Peter was four years old, he fell on a board with a protruding nail, which went through his hand. When the physician asked Elisabeth for her name, he asked if her husband was named John. She explained John was deceased whereas he assured her he was very much alive and had been recently released from the prisoner of war camp in England where John was the headmaster. It took John another five years to make his way to America and create a home for his family. On the 13th of April, 1953, Elisabeth and Hans Peter landed in New York City and were reunited as a family. Hans Peter was nine years old when he and John met for the first time. Home became South St. Paul, Minnesota where he grew up, went to School and graduated from high school with high honors. Life was busy with school, family camping trips, and playing the accordion all while accompanied by his beloved dog, Dusty. the home of his heart became Cambridge, Minnesota which was shared by his devoted, cantankerous feline, Spike.

From his love of photography, he became a photographer. He reminisced frequently about when he was a child, he would carry his little pitcher by the handle on one hand to collect his ration of one cup of milk and in the other hand would be his daily slice of bread which led to his love of cooking and eating. Although he absolutely hated camping, he loved the wilderness, to travel, and to explore. For a time, he was a paralegal satisfying his love of law. throughout the years, he was a handyman.

Hans Peter was preceded in death by his father and mother and son, Scott.

Peter is survived by his daughter, Ursula (Randy) and their son, Nathan (Mckenzie) and his other daughter, Sherry Lynn. He is also survived by his grandson, Joshua.

Hans Peter is also survived by his brother, Fred (Roxie) and their children, Richard (Rachel) and John (Linda) and a sister, Alexandra (Dan) and their children, Brenna (Josh), Chandra (Jason), Brant (Wendy), Kristen (Kyle) and Shane. He is also survived by his great-nieces and great-nephews, Brett, Brooke, Lily, Riley, and Skylar.

A graveside service is being planned at a later date where he will be laid to rest with his mother and father at Lakeside Cemetery in Cumberland, Wisconsin. Arrangements were entrusted to Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland, Wisconsin.
