Harlan Weber Obituary

Visit the Smith Family Funeral Homes - Little Rock website to view the full obituary.

Harlan A. Weber was born September 13th, 1934 in Russell, Arkansas to Harley and Dorene Weber and died on October 8th, 2025 after a joyous 91 years.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Nancy Hunter Weber, his daughter and son, Vicki Weber and Dr. Blake Weber; grandchildren Zachary Brewer, Paul (Adriana), Hunter (Mary Catherine) and Jessica Weber (Kat) and great grandchildren Echo, Xabi and Theodore with another boy expected at Thanksgiving. Also surviving are his sister Doris and several nieces and nephews.

Harlan graduated from Bald Knob High School and enrolled at ASTC (now UCA) at the age of 16. He graduated from ASTC in 1954 and from UofA Law School in 1969 (attending 5 nights a week for 4 1/2 years while working full time and raising 2 children). In 1981 he was appointed circuit judge by then Governor Bill Clinton and retired as an administrative law judge for Social Security in 1997. For 25 years Harlan owned thoroughbreds and raced them at Oaklawn and many other tracks.

He never met a stranger and knew everyone on the paddock end of the track. He also loved "farming" his plots at two rivers park so he could share veggies with his friends and neighbors. Harlan was an elder and member at Second Presbyterian Church and loved ushering and greeting on Sunday mornings. He also volunteered at UAMS with Nancy for 17 years. Shopping for groceries was another love and he visited with every clerk and patron in the store. Harlan was the ultimate caregiver for his family and loved helping others.

Known as "Hardad" by most everyone who knew him, he never hesitated to state his opinion and could care less if anyone agreed. His grandchildren loved listening to his stories of growing up dirt poor and attending school in 9 different states while his father followed the pipeline. Each of his grandkids were very special to him and he treasured every minute he shared with them. They each were the joy and highlight of his life.

A joyous service of celebration of his life will be held on Monday, October 13th at 10:30 AM at Second Presbyterian Church at 600 Pleasant Valley Drive in Little Rock, with a reception to follow. Donations may be made to Second Presbyterian Church. Thanks be to God for a joyous life well lived. God is good! www.smithfamilycares.com
